In 2006
in partnership with the Ontario Quarter Horse racing community, the ORC
developed a multi-year Strategic Plan to support development of a strong
and sustainable Quarter Horse racing industry in Ontario. The Plan
identified a number of goals and objectives to achieve measured,
balanced growth for the sector and to improve the quantity and quality
of Ontario-bred racing stock active in Quarter Horse racing in Ontario.
The Plan forms the foundation upon which the annual program are
developed and approved.Members
of the new Quarter Horse Racing Industry Advisory Group met for the
first time in February 2008, beginning a new phase in the implementation
of the Ontario Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Plan (Plan).
The Advisory Group has been selected to provide input and advice to the
ORC regarding the stewardship of the Plan, evaluating progress on
implementation of the Plan, and making recommendations to the Ontario
Racing Commission (ORC) on industry issues
