Fresh off a successful Opening Day, Santa Anita Park continues its
winter-spring thoroughbred meet on Saturday, January 5 with the Grade 3
$100,000 Sham Stakes (one mile, dirt, 3-year-olds). This is the next
stop on the 2013 Road to the Kentucky Derby. Past winners include Bob
and John (2006), Colonel John (2008) and The Pamplemousse (2009). This
year's feature attraction is Grade 3 $1-million Delta Downs Jackpot
winner Goldencents.Saturday will also see the running of the Grade 2 $150,000 San Pasqual Stakes (formerly the San Pasqual Handicap) for 4-year-olds and up. This is an 8.5-furlong race on the dirt oval.
